چکیده

For the investigations of thermally activated magnetization reversal in systems of classical magnetic moments numerical methods are desirable. We present numerical studies which base on time quanti"ed Monte Carlo methods where the long-range dipole}dipole interaction is calculated with the aid of fast Fourier transformation. As an example, we study models for ferromagnetic nanowires comparing our numerical results for the characteristic time of the reversal process also with numerical data from Langevin dynamics simulations where the fast Fourier transformation method is well established. Depending on the system geometry di!erent reversal mechanism occur like coherent rotation, nucleation, and curling. PACS: 75.10.Hk; 75.40.Mg; 75.40.Gb

Reversal processes and domain wall pinning in polycrystalline Co-nanowires

The magnetization reversal process of single Co nanowires is investigated experimentally by magnetoresistance measurements at low temperatures. The results are compared to magnetic force micrographs of the remanent domain configuration. The theoretical expectation for the reversal process is obtained from Monte Carlo simulations. We find that both the width and the thickness of the wires as wel...

Magnetization switching and inverted hysteresis in perpendicular antiferromagnetic superlattices

The magnetization of antiferromagnetic (AFM) superlattices as a function of applied field was investigated using Monte Carlo simulations. The simulated hysteresis loops of systems with N magnetic layers with AFM coupling between the layers exhibit distinct steps with magnetization that decreases with increasing N. Systems with odd N exhibit 3 steps and inverted hysteresis for N> 3, whereas syst...

Nucleation Theory of Magnetization Switching in Nanoscale Ferromagnets

A nucleation picture of magnetization switching in single-domain ferromagnetic nanoparticles with high local anisotropy is discussed. Relevant aspects of nucleation theory are presented, stressing the effects of the particle size on the switching dynamics. The theory is illustrated by Monte Carlo simulations and compared with experiments on single particles.

1 M ay 1 99 8 Switching dynamics between metastable ordered magnetic state and nonmagnetic ground state - A possible mechanism for

By studying the dynamics of the metastable magnetization of a statistical mechanical model we propose a switching mechanism of photoinduced magnetization. The equilibrium and nonequilibrium properties of the Blume-Capel (BC) model, which is a typical model exhibiting metastability, are studied by mean field theory and Monte Carlo simulation. We demonstrate reversible changes of magnetization in...
